US fractional jet programme reaches 30 aircraft mark

PlaneSense imageNew Hampshire-based private aviation provider Alpha Flying has expanded its fleet to 31Pilatus PC-12s and has more than 200 clients for its PlaneSense fractional ownership programme.

President and CEO George Antoniadis said the company's unique positioning in the market has allowed Alpha Flying to weather the recession better than most, experiencing less than half of the 20 per cent programme exits other fractional ownership programmes have suffered.

"We also experienced a number of participants who came to us and said business changed and they wanted to exit the programme. That number is a single-digit percentage. All of those shares were successfully remarketed to new entrants ... and we sold additional shares in 2009 and 2010," said Antoniadis. "So we didn't experience a reduction in client base. In fact, we increased."

He also expressed optimism for the future: “All in all, we're conservatively optimistic. There's reason to be proud with what we accomplished. We believe we have the most responsible programme because of the cost positioning and in these times of cost control, we will be the programme of choice," said Antoniadis. "We've been very careful as we've optimized operations not to reduce the level of service."
